NLNG CGRP GOVERNING BOARD STRENGTHENS UNIPORT PARTNERSHIP

The Governing Board of the NLNG Centre for Gas, Refining and Petrochemical Engineering paid a courtesy visit on the Vice Chancellor, Prof.  Ndowa Lale, on Friday, November 8, 2019. The visit was aimed at strengthening the capacity of the Centre to deliver on its core mandate of training high impact manpower.

In his brief remark, the Chairman of the Governing Board, Engr Tony Ogbuigwe, recalled that the Centre was established with the support of the industry to develop requisite manpower to meet its human resource needs. “The Board is very interested in having a vibrant Centre in this University that would train suitable manpower for our highly technologically-driven industry. I am convinced that University of Port Harcourt has the right kind of manpower and capacity to achieve this important objective” Engr Ogbuigwe said.

Receiving members of the Governing Board on behalf of the Vice Chancellor, Professor Ndowa Lale, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic), Professor Hakeem Fawehinmi, described the Board as comprising a formidable team of foresighted experts, who can add value to the Centre. He expressed the Management’s joy in working with its members to achieve the core mandate of the Centre.

“We trust in your capacity, skills, knowledge, network and experience to ensure that the Centre trains middle-level manpower that would play leading roles in the hydrocarbon industry. We are looking forward to collaborating with you to achieve the purpose for which the Centre was established,” he said. Immediate past Vice CHANCELLOR, Prof. Joseph Ajienka, who is a member of the Board, also attended the meeting.

Other Members of Board who joined the Chairman on the visit were the Executive Director, Finance at the Port Harcourt Refining Company (PHRC) Mrs. Edith Johnson, who represented the Managing Director of the Company and the Special Assistant/ Public Relation Manager of Indorama, Dr. Jossy Nkwocha, who represented the Managing Director of his own company. Also, in attendance were Acting Director of CGRP, Dr. Ipeghan Otaraku, Administrative Secretary, Mrs. Eunice Etido-Inyang and the Finance Officer of the Centre, Mr Chidi Elee.
